A 3-0 win against Bournemouth on Saturday got Charlton's season off to a perfect start and Chris Powell is looking for a repeat performance in the cup on Tuesday.

The Addicks face Reading and the Charlton boss said he's hoping his new-look side, which featured seven debuts at the weekend, can cause a shock against the Championship club.

The sale of Carl Jenkinson to Arsenal in the summer has enabled manager Chris Powell to build a new squad over the pre-season.

The Addicks boss was disappointed when youth product Jenkinson chose to spurn a new contract and move to the Gunners but the money it brought in has allowed the club to sign 15 new players without breaking the bank, revealed Powell.

Charlton got their season off to a winning start on Saturday at The Valley, despite playing most of the second half with 10 men.

Akpo Sodje's first half strike sealed the points for the Addicks against Bournemouth and the Londoners held on after the break.
