DEVELOPER Ballymore has received planning permission for two major Docklands projects.
A twisting tower on the site of the old London Arena and a project including two and a half thousand residential units in Royal Docks have both been approved by councillors.
The London Arena once hosted concerts from the likes of Pink Floyd and Robbie Williams.
But today, as this picture from Wharf photographer Ben Broomfield shows, the concerts, plays, sport and other events are long gone and the site will have a very different use.
Work started on the mixed-use scheme at Crossharbour after the Arena building was demolished in June 2006.
Ballymore’s development – dubbed Baltimore Wharf – is set to be completed in 2010 and includes housing, offices, hotel, shopping and leisure facilities.
