Home Secretary Alan Johnson visited the Isle of Dogs Police Station this morning.

Mr Johnson joined Canning Town and Poplar MP Jim Fitzpatrick to meet Island residents to discuss the Safer Neighbourhood teams involvement in Operation Fusion to crack down on crime and anti-social behaviour on the Island.

Controversial plans for compulsory identity cards which were due to be trialled by staff at London City Airport have been dropped.

Airside workers and pilots at City, as well as Manchester Airport, were to be the first to be issued with the cards later this year, in a Government scheme.
