VLM Airlines at London City Airport is no more. A new airline has been formed which its owners say will be a stronger force at the Royal Docks airport.

The Belgian carrier VLM was taken over by Air France-KLM earlier this year with the aim of possibly amalgamating it with the company's own airline Cityjet, also based at London City.

AIR France has increased flights from London City Airport to Paris following the fire in the Channel Tunnel.

Two extra flights will be taking off from the Docklands airport to the French capital this weekend.

The first will leave on Saturday at 9:40am and the other will take off from London at 4:55pm on Sunday.

The tunnel has been closed since a freight train caught fire on September 11.

Air France has had a boom in bookings following the incident and has sold out of flights between Heathrow and Paris.
