Controversial football star Joey Barton is reportedly undergoing a medical at Upton Park in preparation for joining West Ham.

The midfielder and part-time philosopher was released by QPR last season after the team’s relegation and has been on the lookout for a new club all summer.
It would seem a good fit for the Irons, who are keen on an experienced midfield player to fill the role Alex Song played so well for much of last season.
Barton clearly still has a hunger for the game, posting several positive tweets about his own fitness over the summer.
While doing media work for Aston Villa’s clash with Bournemouth on Saturday, August 8, he joked: “Judging by this game today, it won’t be long before I’ll be getting a phone call from somebody.
“The best player might be sitting in the stands this afternoon, even if I do say so myself.”
Despite never reaching the career heights of contemporaries like Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard, Barton has never been far away from the headlines.
In 2008 he was jailed for six months for common assault and affray.
In 2013, while playing for Marseille, he was given a two-game ban for calling PSG centre back Thiago Silva an “overweight ladyboy” on Twitter.
