Carlos Vela has been linked with a sensational £21million transfer to West Ham despite interest from Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg.

Transfer rumours: Could Adebayor yet be heading for West Ham?

The Hammers have been monitoring the former Arsenal striker since January when it was suggested David Moyes might replace former boss Sam Allardyce and bring the Mexican with him.

Last month it was claimed the Hammers had met the £21million release clause in his contract, but he rejected the offer from the Irons.

However, Bet Victor have put the shortest odds on West Ham being the forward’s next club, with chances of a return to London set at 6/1.

Such a move would smash the club record transfer of £15million for Andy Carroll.

Despite playing well in cup games for Arsenal in the late 2000s, Vela never quite adapted to the cut and thrust of the Premier League, eventually making a loan move to Sociadad in 2011.

After the San Sebastian club signed him permanently for around £2million, the forward blossomed into one of La Liga’s most feared attackers and West Ham seem keen to give him a second chance in England.
