West Ham are unlikely to spend in January as the son of owner David Sullivan told fans in a tweet the club had spent up in the summer.
The Irons were one of the Premier League’s big cash splashers in August, making four signings on deadline day alone.
But Jack Sullivan, who is also chair of a supporters’ group, said there was little room to strengthen in January and warned things weren’t looking rosy on the club’s balance sheet.
A fan tweeted Jack, asking: “Do we still have a sizeable budget for January?”
Jack replied: “No the club’s going to lose a lot of money this year. We over spent in the summer!”
Among West Ham ’s summer signings were Dimitri Payet (£11.9million), Angelo Ogbonna (£8million), Michail Antonio (£7million) and Pedro Obiang (£4.3million), along with several high-earning loan singings.
