Club co-chairman David Gold told Sky Sports News HQ the club were doing “everything in our power” to attract two players, with two new signings top of the shopping list.
Forward Enner Valencia faces a long stint on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury at West Ham’s draw with Astra Giurgiu on Thursday, July 30.
In the meantime the club has been linked with Atletico Madrid’s Raul Jimenez, Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez and QPR’s Charlie Austin.
Meanwhile it was more woe for West Ham fans as their team slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of German team Werder Bremen on Sunday, August 2.
