Wapping Hockey Club’s top Ladies team has won the Lee Valley Summer League for the second consecutive year.

They triumphed at the London 2012 Olympic pitch in Stratford defended their title against London rivals Blackheath and Old Elthamians HC.

The team, which includes a strong contingent of Wapping HC Ladies 1s and 2s players claimed the silverware after a 5-0 win.

Kate Silbermann, who co-captained the team with Charlotte Keizer said: “The league was a great opportunity to keep everyone involved over the summer months and build some momentum for the upcoming season.

“Hopefully the squad take the winning mentality into the league when it starts in September.”

Wapping HC Ladies 1s and 2s have their work cut out for them when the new season kicks off next month after both teams won promotions to compete in the East Premier and East Division 1S, respectively.

Wapping HC chairman Stuart Burnside said he was pleased to see another trophy in the bag for the summer squad and they were keen to strengthen the team ahead of the new season.

“With return to the notoriously competitive East Premiership on the cards for the upcoming season, the summer programme had an creased importance for Wapping Ladies this year.”
