The temperatures may have crept into the 30s, but new Hammers boss Slaven Bilic is not feeling the heat in the transfer market.
The new manager has already spent more than £15million on Dimitri Payet and Pedro Obiang, and is now said to be after Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour as well as continuing to pursue Barcelona midfielder Alex Song.
It would be a quite a coup for the Hammers to land Abdennour, 25, who is also said to be a target for Milan, Inter, Juventus and Liverpool.
However, the Tunisia international refused to rule out a move to the Boleyn, saying: “I have a contract with Monaco and I’m undecided.
“But I can say that I want to get better every day.”
Having spent last season on loan at the club, Alex Song is no stranger to Irons fans, receiving plaudits for his tenacious performances during the first half of the season.
The 27-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms with West Ham, but Barca are said to be holding out for a fee, believed to be around £5million. West Ham aren’t keen on paying, however.
The Hammers look set for a big-spending summer as they aim to bolster their squad ahead of their Europa League assault.
