Reports in the French media suggest West Ham managerial target Marcelo Bielsa will soon sign a contract extension, ruling him out of an east London move.
La Provence has reported the 59-year-old is ready for a fresh deal which will see him remain in charge of Marseille until 2017.
According to the Daily Mirror, the Irons had made Bielsa their primary target to replace Sam Allardyce who departed on the last day of the Premier League season.
And with another name in the frame – Unai Emery, Sevilla's current boss – apparently a target for Napoli, Upton Park eyes must be increasingly focused on bookies' favourite Slaven Bilic.
Whether the former West Ham defender winds up with the reigns of power remains to be seen. He's been backed by another former Iron, Demba Ba already, but the contest is still wide open.
