Byron said: “Our training week in Portugal was hard work and, over the five or six days, we got to know each other.

“There’s a lot of banter flying about, so it easily breaks the ice for the new players.

“This season it’s taking each game as it comes, winning every game and seeing where we are at the end of the year.

“It’s about consistency. When I got promoted with another club it was about consistency and ticking the games off.

“It’s that and making sure the strikers are scoring goals.

“On an operational level I’m hoping to get in the team and also to play consistently and chip in with a few goals.

“It’s not so long ago Neil Harris was a player and he knows what he’s talking about.

“He knows the way he wants to play and he’s bringing in players too.”
