JP Morgan’s hockey-playing staff have scooped a double-trophy win in the six-a-side City and Wharf tournament and the summer-long City and Wharf Hockey League.
The team defeated Barclays 1-0 in the league final on Wednesday, August 5, and, in doing so, became the first side to win all six games since their opponents’ run four seasons beforehand.
League organiser Dan Carter said: “Wapping Hockey Club hosted a superb season of summer sport, rounded off with all the teams mingling in The Cape for a hog roast, and a couple of pints of Wapping Gold – ‘the hockey beer’.”
Wapping Hockey Club hosted both finals at their home ground the John Orwell Centre in Wapping.
The club has launched their own line of beers across East London to toast their most successful season ever that saw eight teams gain promotion.
The sales revenue from the three craft beers – named Wapping Hoppy, Wapping Gold and Wapping Cape – will help the club generate additional revenue to continue growing and offer members access to some of the best facilities in the country.
The range will be available at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre (where the team also play) for the Unibet Eurohockey Championships in August.
