Johnnie Jackson said he is thrilled to have committed himself to the club until at least the summer of 2017, after penning a one-year contract extension on Friday afternoon.

The skipper first joined the Addicks in 2010 and has gone on to make more than 200 appearances for the club, scoring 50 goals.

And the dynamic midfielder said he couldn’t wait to sign the new deal as soon as the club came to him with the offer.

“Brilliant,” he told the club's website . “I couldn’t wait to get it signed and from the moment I got here I’ve always said that this seemed like the place for me.

“As soon as I got here I felt at home. I was back in London; settled and from the first moment the fans took to me on the pitch.

“That has allowed me to flourish and I’ve played the best football of my career here. I’ve played more games for Charlton than I have anyone else. If you asked anyone about me, they’d think Charlton.

“It’s been a great fit from the first minute and long may it continue.”

“I love the rapport that I’ve got with them. It’s grown and grown. Social media and things like that have enabled me to interact with them.

“It gives you a voice and allows you to speak to them. I’ve made some friends along the way with supporters and on the pitch the fans have always backed me vocally. I’m really grateful for that.”
