The London Lions basketball team is looking to have a season to remember after capturing one of the sport’s hottest names.
The team, based in Stratford’s Copper Box Arena, is looking to build on last season’s sixth place finish in the British Basketball League, and is looking to local lad Allie Fullah to spearhead a title charge.
Fullah, a graduate of the Lions’ partner school Hackney Community College, spent five years in US college basketball, firstly at Central Florida and then Charleston Southern, before graduating in 2014.
Lions head coach Nigel Lloyd said: “We are happy to acquire another stunning British prospect in Allie, it’s important English players see a career path through British Basketball and the BBL, I have known Allie a long time and he is a serious competitor, he brings a never say die attitude to us and I know he will be happy about playing at home.”
A robust defender and shot blocker with a reputation for rebounding, Fullah finished his college career averaging five points and five rebounds per game.
A giant at 6’8” and 235lbs, Fullah improved further playing for Calais Basket in France last year, where his numbers increased to 12 points and eight rebounds.
With more signings to be announced before the opening match with Plymouth on September 19, excitement is building at the new look Lions.
Fullah, who still lives in Hackney, said he can’t wait to play in front of his home crowd.
“I am so excited,” he said. “I can’t wait for the season to start – I want to do big things in London and I want to look in the stands and see all people I know.”
Season tickets are also still available and give fans the opportunity to choose their own seat for the season as well as exclusive access to many activities involving the team.
