Pupils at Cubitt Town Junior School showcased skills in tennis and hockey at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The young East Enders made the trip to Stratford’s Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre alongside 500 others, with schools from each London borough represented.

Those in Years Three and Four were coached in Quicksticks - a four-a-side version of hockey - as well as mini tennis.

Lee Valley Regional Park authority chairman Derrick Ashley said: “It was great to see so many youngsters from across the region following in the footsteps of sporting stars and playing tennis and hockey here.

“Uniquely among world class sports venues, anyone can play on the pitches and courts at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre which runs many introductory sessions to encourage new participants to get involved in both sports.”

The centre also runs weekly Rush Hockey for players of all standards as well as Hotshots Tennis coaching for all ages.
