Charlton have made their sixth signing of the summer – and their second in the same afternoon.

Versatile left sider Zakarya Bergdich arrived on Thursday, July 23 from Spanish club Real Valladolid just hours after the Addicks signed former Spurs winger Christian Ceballos.

The 26-year-old Moroccan international arrives at The Valley for an undisclosed fee, subject to a medical, putting pen to paper on a four-year deal.

He and Ceballos join Patrick Bauer, El-Hadji Ba, Simon Makienok, Ahmed Kashi on the list of new summer recruits.

After making 17 appearances in the Segunda Division for Valladolid in the first half of last season, he spent the latter part of 2014/15 on loan at Italian club Genoa.

He got to test himself against a high calibre of opposition in Serie A, making his debut in a 5-2 triumph over Verona and going on to start against Udinese, AC Milan, AS Roma and Champions League finalists Juventus.

Charlton head coach Guy Luzon told the club’s official website: “We identified Zakarya as a player who possesses a lot of pace on the left side of the pitch, and I’m very pleased that we are able to confirm him as a Charlton player.

“He is an exciting footballer who will excite the Charlton fans and while with Genoa last year he played against some of the hardest opponents in European football.”
