Last year Team Royal Bankers of Canada - pedalling for sponsors Royal Bank of Canada - secured the title, trumping a Pure Sports Medicine squad based in Cabot Place and 36 other groups.

In the 2016 challenge, participants will again take on a 1km route around Canada Square Park and the North and South Colonnades in a time-trial format.

Limelight Sports has resumed its role as event organiser.

Last year, Shane Sutton OBE was enlisted as performance advisor.

He said: “The 2015 event was incredible. We saw individuals come together in some difficult conditions to work as a unit, and for those that embraced the spirit of pursuit riding they found success regardless of their team’s final position.

“Having a competition like this, where riders have different roles and strengths is what makes this event so compelling.

“I can’t wait to be part of the next event!”
