Pudding Mill Lane
Station: Exposed to the elements, it would be wise to wrap up if you are intending to wait here. Twelve minutes from Canary Wharf on the Stratford branch, leaving the station is easy, negotiating a route through the maze of development work, a little more of a challenge. On the border of zones 2 and 3.
History: Pudding Mill Lane station opened in 1996. The station takes its name from the lane, named after the Pudding Mill river which runs off the River Lea. It has been suggested a nearby watermill, shaped like a pudding, gave the river its title.
What's there: In the shadow of the Olympic Stadium, this is the place to go to check out the progress on the park. Aside from that, recreation is sparse. Forman's Fish Island, a giant, pink, salmon shaped building housing the Island's historic salmon smoking company, a conference centre, exhibition space and restaurant is the closest entertainment.
