WIN a day with a photographer

CANARY Wharf Group has teamed up with The Wharf to offer readers the chance to win £200 in Jessops vouchers and a day with a professional photographer.

Photographers are urged to enter the Green Docklands Photography Competition for Green Canary Day 2008.

Entries should illustrate Docklands’ unique urban and natural environment and the growing focus on environmental sustainability and biodiversity.

The prize package includes a day learning the tricks of the trade with professional photographer Peter Matthews from Folio Photography and £200 of Jessops vouchers.

A shortlist of entries will be decided by Canary Wharf Group plc, with the winning entry judged by representatives from The Wharf, Canary Wharf Group plc and the local community.

Selected entries will be displayed around Canary Wharf, in The Wharf and on this website.

How to Enter

Photographers can submit digital entries to greendocklands@canarywharf.com, or post hard copies to:

Entries should be the entrants’ original work, and be accompanied by the following:

The photographer’s name and contact details
Date the photographs were taken
The place the photographs were taken
The subject of the photographs
A title (optional)
100 words describing each image (optional)

Entries can be black and white or colour. Digital entries should be high resolution but not greater than 10MB in size.

Closing Date for entries is 5pm on 6 October 2008

Terms and conditions

By submitting an entry, the entrant agrees to the following terms and conditions.

Photographs must be taken within the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Newham, Greenwich, Lewisham or Southwark.

The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into. The winning entry is at the sole discretion of the judges.

Employees of Canary Wharf Group plc, its subsidiaries or The Wharf are not eligible to enter.

Entries will not be returned.

All entries must be received by the advertised time and date.

All images submitted must be the work of the individual submitting them. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that any images have been taken with the permission of the subject and do not infringe the copyright of any third party or laws.

Copyright of the photographs remains with the photographer; however in submitting entries to the competition, the entrant provides Canary Wharf Group, The Wharf and Run Wild Media a license to feature any or all of the images in its publications, websites and in any promotional material related to Green Canary Day.

Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.

The winning entry will be judged to be that is most visually appealing and that best illustrates Docklands’ unique urban and natural environment and the growing focus on environmental sustainability and biodiversity.

The winner will be notified with two weeks of the closing date of the competition.

Photographs with excessive digital manipulation may be excluded from the competition, at the discretion of the judges.

One entrant will win a working day spent with Peter Matthews from Folio Photography. The date is at the discretion of Peter Matthews. All prizes are non-transferable and there are no cash alternatives.
