Emma Biggs - Pattern For Democracy (2008)

Commissioned to create a design for the floor of the refurbished shopping centre at Cabot Place West, Emma Biggs produced a contemporary take on the traditional mosaic.

Using marble and smalti, her work steers away from rigid precision. Instead she employs a variety of shapes, colours and forms in her work.
Emma Biggs is considered to be one of Britain's leading mosaic artists.
Her work can also be found in Jubilee Place Mall.
One series depicts the suits, shoes and ties of the modern patron of Canary Wharf, the other the historical trades and wares of the dockyards.
