A developer is hoping the glamour of The Great Gatsby will rub off on its latest scheme.
Galliard Homes’ 41-storey Maine Tower at Harbour Central launches on Thursday, June 25.
And, while it might not be home to Leonardo di Caprio, who plays the hero in the most recent film adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, the firm believes the lure of facilities such as a private cinema and some Art Deco touches will help bring the buyers in.
Its launch event, which runs until June 28, will enable those with the cash to snap up 297 off-plan apartments and penthouses.
Attendees will gain access to one of the developer’s biggest marketing suites, which includes a one-bedroom show home, a studio flat and a special viewing gallery.
Galliard chairman and chief executive Stephen Conway, who said the scheme was “the best residential address in Docklands”, came up with its 1920s theme.
The tower features a New York-style lounge and library, a gym and a spa as well as a cocktail bar.
Nicola Fontanella, of Argent Design, was brought in to realise the look using bronze, glass and stone in the foyer and the tower’s six-storey leisure facilities.
Stephen said: “We have designed a scheme that offers buyers both a lifestyle offering and a superb investment.
“We believe that with the regeneration of this industrial site adjoining Millharbour Dock and the forthcoming Crossrail link that will be a game changer in connecting Docklands with west London, homes in the locality will benefit from capital value uplift and sustained sales demand from rental investors and end users.”
Galliard said the homes would have spacious reception rooms, bespoke entertainment systems, mood lighting and designer fully fitted kitchens.
Bedrooms will feature woven carpets and floor-to-ceiling wardrobes while bathrooms have stone-tiled floors and glass walls.
Argent Design will also dress homes if required.
Maine Tower is at the heart of the £550million Harbour Central project, which will provide 901 new homes alongside retail, commercial and leisure space and parking facilities.
Just over a third of the properties are designated for private sale while 277 are for shared ownership and similar schemes or affordable rent.
Studio apartments average 370sq ft with prices starting at £350,000.
