Final planning permission has been granted by Tower Hamlets Strategic Planning Committee for 1 Bank Street.
French bank Societe Generale has already signed a lease for the building and will occupy the ground to seventh floor on a 25 year lease from summer 2019. They will be paying a rent of £47.50 per sq ft, with 36 months’ rent free.
The building will include three levels of trading floors, a retail unit at ground level, a retail kiosk on South Dock Promenade and basement car and cycle parking. There will also be public access to a new promenade along the South Dock, with works beginning later this year.
Canary Wharf Group has also been granted outline planning permission for just over 1 million sq ft of space at 1 Park Place. The building design is by Squires & Partners.
