A construction worker turned teaching assistant is asking for help from the community to support his neighbour who finds it hard to move about.
Ian Devlin, who works at Ian Mikardo High School, is appealing for people to help transform 74-year-old Janet Korbo’s flat to make it more suitable for her needs.
Ian, 31, of Poplar, said: “Janet is my neighbour and I’ve known her all my life. We all live near someone who needs a helping hand, and it’s easy to forget that a bit of assistance can make all the difference to someone who’s finding life hard.
“I’m working on improving Janet’s bathroom so that it’s accessible to her, and it would be fantastic if any other local trades could join in either by donating their time or some materials.”
Janet added: “I can’t believe what Ian’s doing for me. This could really change my life.”
