If you're thinking of catching the Jubilee line west and changing at London Bridge for mainline services via East Croydon think again.

A sinkhole has opened beneath the track at Forest Hill causing major disruption to Southern and London Overground services.

Commuters have been advised to seek alternative routes home for at least the evening of Monday, July 18.

Discovery of the hole, which is reported to be 50ft deep, has seen all trains suspended while Network rail attempts to assess and rectify the problem.

A spokesperson said: “Our engineers are on site investigating a hole which has appeared next to the track at Forest Hill.

“As a result, two of the four railway lines in the area have been closed for safety reasons.

“Some trains are being diverted and we urge passengers travelling between London Bridge and East Croydon to check before they travel.

“We will update passengers with more information as soon we can.”

There is currently no service on the London Overground between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace / West Croydon due to the hole.

Live travel updates are available on TfL and Southern Railway's site – we're afraid the latter doesn't make for pleasant reading.
