The fear of running out of phone battery or getting lost in Canary Wharf may soon be a thing of the past as a new rather interesting idea has launched.
Canary Wharf is getting a preview of the Strawberry Smart Bench – a charging unit, local information point and, well, a bench.

The seats, designed by Miloš Milivojević, have been placed in Cabot Square, Jubilee Gardens, Westferry Circus and outside Crossrail Place.
We had a wander around the estate with Miloš and head of brand communications Sara Oredić to learn more about the benches.
1. They are able to power-up Android and iPhone mobiles, as well as tablets and portable music players using cable connections and wireless charging technology.
2. The benches also track air quality and noise levels in the surrounding area and include an emergency call button linked to the Canary Wharf Help Estate Centre.
3. Get lost in Canary Wharf a lot? If you spot one of the benches – which you can find using the Strawberry App - it will direct you where you need to go.
“We are in negotiations with real estate companies and boroughs in London, so we expect that at least 10 more smart benches like these will be on service to Londoners by the end of this year,” Miloš said.
“We invite Londoners to suggest locations where they would like Strawberry Smart Bench to be installed by tweeting the location with the hashtag #SEBenchLDN, and we will do our best to make it happen.”
