Children at Oasis Academy Silvertown began secondary school studies outside of the classroom on a week-long outdoor adventure.

The teambuilding at Kingswood Activity Centre saw 70 Year Seven pupils brave abseiling courses, make a target at archery and splash around in an indoor heated swimming pool.

They also raced around Ashford’s go-kart track as part of the teambuilding sessions to help them make new friends before the school year kicked in.

Executive Principal of Oasis Academy Silvertown Linda-May Bingham said: “Not only have our students been able to enjoy so many fantastic experiences, some for the first time, they have also had a chance to meet with one another and make friendships that will last for the rest of their time at the academy.

“We look forward to getting to know them all in the weeks ahead, where they will be able to make a great start alongside the teachers and new classmates.”

based in the heart of east London, Oasis Academy Silvertown is a free school for those aged between 11 and 16.

It currently has two year groups and will be at full capacity in September 2019.
