The DLR timetable will get some alterations from Sunday, August 23, with more trains to Canary Wharf from the east.

There will be a more frequent service between Stratford and Canary Wharf and Stratford and Lewisham on Monday to Friday and at weekends, as well as twice as many trains between Bank and Lewisham on Saturdays during the evening hours.

The current Beckton to West Ham service will now operate between Beckton and Canning Town with some services ending sooner than before.

Meanwhile, the DLR is looking to change the seating layout of its trains to provide more standing room.

Some of the rolling stock is being converted to put seats against the walls of the carriage – as with the London Overground. The result will be the same number of seats, some of them wider and it will create more space for people to move down carriages.

New franchise operator Keolis Amey Docklands, which took over from Serco last year, have already introduced a number of timetable and service changes to handle the 8% annual growth in passengers.
