A man has arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a hit and run in Stratford.

A 22-year-old woman is in hospital with substantial injuries after being hit by a car as she walked in Thornham Grove on Saturday, August 20.

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to the scene at about 3.40am.

Officers found a vehicle nearby and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray and attempted murder. He was taken into custody at an east London police station where he remains.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether the vehicle was involved in the collision and detectives from Newham are appealing for witnesses.

The woman’s injuries are not being treated as life threatening.
