The Emirates Air Line has become a key tourist attraction for east and south-east London but a Valentine's Day trip for one schoolteacher was especially memorable.
Mechanic Richard Giles, 29, used the enclosed cabin 300 feet above the Thames to ask 34-year-old teacher Melanie Gordon to marry him.
The couple from Greenhithe were one of thousands who travelled on the cable car during it's Valentine's promotion last weekend, when Transport for London spent four days putting on special journeys including free chocolates and romantic music inside pods.
But Richard was keen to use his journey from North Greenwich to the Royal Docks to pop the question - which Melanie was delighted to say yes to.
"This was the most perfect moment. Just us, 100 feet up in the air surrounded by the awe of the London skyline and with beautiful love songs serenading us," said Melanie. "This moment we will remember forever.
"Richard pulled off a proposal beyond my wildest dreams."
