Ten fire engines attended a huge blaze in an industrial unit in Enfield.

Some 72 firefighters and officers attended a pallet yard fire, which was visible across London, in Mollison Avenue, Enfield.

A large part of the yard and nearby cars were alight.

The fire was visible across east London and in the early stages the brigade's 999 control took 26 calls to the incident.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: “Firefighters are at the scene tackling the industrial unit blaze.

"There is a lot of thick black smoke in the local area so we’d ask local residents to close their doors and windows.”

As the fire burned Twitter user James Wright (@J1MBO) caught drivers rubber-necking as they passed by the flames.

The Fire Brigade was called at 10.10am on Tuesday, July 21. Fire crews from Enfield and surrounding stations are at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.
