A suspicious vehicle prompted a major bomb scare at South Quay with hundreds of people forced to leave their offices.

Buildings near the DLR were cleared while passengers were told to stay on the trains until the vehicle had been checked.

People were moved to the Asda car park at Crossharbour until the area was declared safe.

Police were called ot the scene just before 10am on Tuesday, April 12, and left at around 1pm.

A Met Police spokesman said: Cordons were put in place whilst officers dealt with the incident."

South Quay was the location of an IRA bomb 20 years ago which left two dead.
