HSBC's retail arm will get a new name as part of a move to separate from its business side.

It comes more than 20 years after HSBC took over Midland Bank, fuelling expectations that the old name will be revived.

Among numerous changes happening to the corporation are that around 12% of sites across the globes will be cut - with an estimated 120 UK branches affected - and relocating its UK headquarters from Canary Wharf - with the likelihood of losing 8,000 members of staff in the process.
