Saturday, August 6: East London

The first day of the London Triathlon (August 6-7) will affect the Excel Centre area, according to TfL.

The following roads between Gallions Reach Roundabout and Leamouth Roundabout will be closed between 05:00-19:00 :

  • Royal Albert Way
  • Sandstone Lane
  • Seagull Lane
  • The Lower Lea Crossing

If your journey takes you along these roads re-route via A13 and A406, or Silvertown Way and North Greenwich.

One lane will be open in both directions between Leamouth Road Roundabout and Orchard Place to allow access for the Wharfs on the south side of the river.

Sunday, August 7: East and Central London

The second day of the London Triathlon will affected the area between the Excel Centre and central London.

The following roads will be closed at the following times:


  • Byward Street to Tower Hill
  • Upper and Lower Thames Streets
  • Victoria Embankment


  • Aspen Way
  • Limehouse Link Tunnel
  • Lower Lea Crossing
  • Roads around the Excel
  • Royal Albert Way

Road closures will obviously affect bus and taxi routes as well.

Tube & rail

The Tube and DLR is the best way to get around central and east London on the event days, although stations around the event routes may be busier than usual, including:

The road closures on Sunday, August 7 means the Cycle Superhighway will be closed between Blackfriars Bridge and Tower Bridge between 05:00-12:00.
