Waterloo Station was evacuated after a passenger accidentally set off a fire alarm.

The error added to the chaos at the interchange, which was heavily congested due to delays on the Jubilee line after a signal failure at London Bridge and problems on Southeastern services at Waterloo East after a body was found on the line.

Shaun, a commuter who was among those to leave Waterloo, said “It started with an alarm asking inspector Sam’s to report to the control room whatever that means.”

Transport for London confirmed just before 10.30am that “a passenger mistakenly activated a fire alarm”, which added to the chaos as people were diverted away from Waterloo East platforms and Jubilee line platforms.

The Jubilee line is now running, but services are subject to delays.

A spokesman for Southeastern trains said services were still affected but they were also running.
