Can seductive stripping really be classed as an art?

A crowdfunding campaign by the East London Strippers Collective hopes to “redefine London’s striptease culture” with a 10-day celebration and events schedule.

The group of dancers has secured the use of the Red Gallery, in Shoreditch, for free but now needs £8,000 to cover its costs.

They hope to host everything from costume making to pole dance workshops and a film gallery to shine the spotlight on the industry and switch negative attitudes in society.

The event’s crowdfunding page added the female group were striving to “counteract the stigma around striptease and celebrate the art of the dancers”

Original artwork and pre-loved stripper gear will also be on sale at the showcase, which is planned from October 22 to November 1.
