Ten east London graduates have received full scholarships to study at Loughborough University’s new Olympic Village campus.
The scholarships are jointly funded by Loughborough University London and the London Legacy Development Corporation to help unemployed and under-employed graduates from east London to study an MA.
The scholars were officially welcomed to Loughborough University London at a special event at the ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Wednesday, September 16.
Loughborough University vice chancellor Prof Robert Allison said: “We are all incredibly excited about Loughborough University London and to be able to meet some of our first scholars was a real honour. I look forward to following their Loughborough University London journey.”
Paul Brickell, executive director of regeneration and partnerships for the London Legacy Development Corporation, said: “Raising aspirations and helping people to fulfil their potential is a key part of the London 2012 Games legacy and the Inspiring Success scholarships are just one way in which this is being delivered. We are delighted that a number of local residents have secured scholarships with Loughborough University London. There is no doubt they have bright futures ahead of them.”
