Dr Sheila Fitzpatrick has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
The wife of Poplar and Limehouse MP Jim Fitzpatrick was awarded an MBE by the Queen for her services to charities and community organisations both in the UK and in Bangladesh.
Posting the notice informing Sheila of her honour on Saturday, June 11, Jim said on Twitter: “Delighted to report that this is in Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours published today, Sheila MBE.”
Deputy Mayor of Tower Hamlets Shiria Khatun also congratulated Sheila.
Other notable recipients were Rod Steward, who received a knighthood, and British astronaut Tim Peak, who was honoured with the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George.
And yesterday it was announced that the chairman of Crossrail Terry Morgan would receive a knighthood for his services to UK infrastructure, skills and employment.
