Tower Hamlets is a contender for the drug crime capital of the country.
The borough lies in 9th place according an analysis of drug crimes per 1,000 residents.
London districts occupy eight of the top 10 places with Westminster effectively top once the City has been screened out due to its tiny population.
In Westminster there were 2,644 incidents of drug offences recorded in the city by police in 2014. The latest population estimate for Westminster is over 226,000 people. That works out at 11.7 recorded incidents of illegal drugs per 1,000 people, although the crimes could have involved tourists and visitors.
Tower Hamlets saw 2033 incidents, 7.4 incidents of illegal drugs per 1,000.
Across England and Wales there were 3,290 cases of people sent to prison and 10,424 fines dished out for drugs offences last year. The average figure for England and Wales was 3.1 drugs offences per 1,000 people.
