More than 70 firefighters are tackling a warehouse blaze in Charlton with thick clouds of black smoke visable from Canary Wharf.
A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said 10 engines were called out at 4.08pm to tackle the fire at a warehouse in Lombard Wall.
The building spans 100m by 25m, with a section of the property still in flames.
Carpet Smart employee Martin Harris - working on the same road - told The Wharf the incident was centred on a Sainsbury's distribution depot.
He said: "There was big black smoke billowing out of the top for a good half an hour at least.
"It's much less now than it used to be.
"The smoke has died down and the fire service has worked hard to do what it had to do."
More to follow.
