A teenager from Canary Wharf took to the stage as Herbert in his school’s production of Great Expectation.

Simon Zakharov, of Victory Place, played lead character Pip’s best friend in the first piece performed at Lambeth’s DLD College’s refurbished atrium.

The classic tale tells the story of orphan, Pip, as he goes on a journey from childhood to a man with a heavy dose of trauma.

The A-Level Physics, French, Pure Maths and Mechanics and Economics, student Simon received praise for his role on Tuesday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 9.

Drama tutor and director of the play Chris Chambers said: “Simon fit his role well and gave a very convincing performance which is impressive considering we had limited rehearsal time. All the students did an exceptional job in this play. It was a joy to watch and it was in such a stunning setting. The atrium really is the heart of DLD College and is a great platform for students to showcase their creativity.”
