Cubitt Town School got a couple of special visitors – just in time for The Ashes.

The Canary Wharf Group has donated a cricket net to the school, which will allow pupils to enjoy playing cricket with no danger of smashing a window.

Its fold-away design means playground space isn’t lost to a single sport.

Former England cricketers Devon Malcolm and Alex Tudor were on hand to teach pupils some cricketing skills.

Canary Wharf Group strategic advisor Howard Dawber said: “The net is a brilliant solution for schools that don’t have much space, as it can be packed away.

“The fact these kids can play cricket when once they probably weren’t able to due to space is fantsastic. This is about more than just a cricket net.”
