The Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition launched its election manifesto outside Canary Wharf Tube station today.

This morning the party told a crowd the party stood against austerity cuts to public spending and high rents, in favour of a nationwide minimum wage of £10 per hour and for the building of more council homes.

Hugo said: "This area that we stand in now is very unusual in Poplar and Limehouse - it's the biggest casino in the world, these people gamble with our money every day.

"You only have to go half a mile down the road and you see desperate housing conditions - it's the most overcrowded borough in London."

Hugo said he was standing for people who were on low wages and faced extortionate rents that needed someone to stand up for them.
