The back of a London bus has been left a burnt shell after it caught on fire outside Blackheath station.

The 108 burst into flames in Lee Road, just before 12.30pm on Monday, August 10, but was put out by 12.40pm after a speedy response from the London Fire Brigade.

Christopher Holland told the Evening Standard : “I was just on the way to the post office when a large amount of grey smoke began to fill the air from a nearby bus then there were several bangs and flames started to pour out from the rear end.

“It was quite scary and people were beginning to panic a bit as it was very close to the shops and parked cars – luckily the fire brigade arrived quickly and managed to put it before it spread any further.”
