A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was stabbed in the stomach in east London.
The officer was seriously injured in a car park near Bunsen House in Bow, Tower Hamlets , on Sunday night. He and another officer were called to the scene after reports of anti-social behaviour.
Met police said a knife was recovered, and the teenager was been taken to an east London police station for questioning.
The police constable was taken to hospital with what police described as “a serious stab injury to the abdomen”, after the incident at around 11.30pm and was said to be in a “serious but stable condition”.
The force added that there is not believed to be any link to extremism or terrorism. A spokesman said nobody else had been arrested in connection with the stabbing or the earlier anti-social behaviour.
Fellow officers took to Twitter to express their support for their colleague.
