Charity Shop Strut is a fundraising event asking people to come in their best thrift gear and walk between three of SCT’s Tower Hamlets charity shops: Bethnal Green Road, Roman Road and Chrisp Street.
Stephen Armstrong, head of communications and fundraising, said: “When we asked residents how we should celebrate our 50th birthday, Colin and Matti both said they wanted to give something back to SCT so that we could help more people like them.
“And so the Charity Shop Strut was born. We think it’s great they came up with this and hope they and everyone who takes part has a great walk on Saturday. It’s going to be full of the best of the East End’s markets, coffee and charity shops.”
“Our residential rehab is on Shoreditch High Street – in the middle of party central Shoreditch. 50 years on we still find that three triggers for addiction are losing your job, a failed relationship or having addiction in the family. The former 2 can happen to anyone, particularly in the current economic climate.”
We will be chatting with favourite former Eastenders landlady actress at the event, so check out our May 14 edition and wharf.co.uk to see why she took part in the event.
