Taking a break from his usual July haunt – Wimbledon – singer Sir Cliff Richard will be the guest of honour as the InterContinental London – The O2 opens on Tuesday, July 5.
The hotel with the unwieldy name neighbouring the famous dome will be one of the first appearances of the popular singer since he was cleared of sex abuse allegations.
We do not know yet whether he will burst into song – as he did famously when the rains came down at Wimbledon in 1996 but we humbly present before the exulted knight a possible playlist, adapted for the occasion.
… Your Bags For You, Sir – the traditional anthem of Ancient Order of Bellboys and Girls.
2. I’m Looking Out The Window
I think I can see my house from here.
3. The Millennium Prayer
Please, please, please don’t let the Dome become a white elephant.
4. It’ll Be Me
… who ordered the sirloin steak and frites. And did you remember the ketchup?
5. Take Me High
… and press ALL the buttons on the way up because I know how annoying that is.
6. Summer Holiday
What Cliff wants.
7. Silvery Rain
What Cliff gets.
8. Mistletoe and Wine
I know it’s only night room service but I have some very particular cravings.
9. Girl, You’ll Be A Woman Soon
… we’ve been waiting that long for our room to be cleaned.
10. Wired For Sound
… and all the rooms have complementary wi-fi as well.
11. You’re So Square, Baby I Don’t Care
Cliff’s memorable ditty in praise of hotel soap.
12. Go Go Go
… We’ve past the checking out time by 10 minutes. They’re going to charge us for an extra night.
