CityJet has announced that it will fly 18 times-a-week between Cork and London City Airport from October.

The airline will operate daily services on weekdays, with its first flight to Cork departing at 09.35 on October 1. It will also offer one flight on Saturdays and two on Sundays.

The airline said it saw significant potential for flights between City Airport and Cork, helping to provide fast access to the greater Munster region.

CityJet executive chairman Pat Byrne said: “We are very excited about this expansion of our route network.

“We believe the London City to Cork route has significant potential and indications are, as we launch a major marketing and promotional drive, that there are many travellers, both business and leisure, that want to enjoy the fast access and hassle-free experience that London City Airport offers.”

London City Airport chief executive Declan Collier said: “We’re delighted that CityJet has included a service between London City Airport and Cork to its schedule.

“It’s fantastic news for both business and leisure travellers from across London with easy access right into Cork’s city centre and the Munster region.”
