A workplace technology firm based in Harbour Exchange has received a coveted Queen’s Award for Enterprise.
Condeco was one of the select few companies across the UK that was recognised in the innovation category of the most sought-after business award in the country.
The honour is granted on the advice of the Prime Minister and is awarded for outstanding innovation and development.
To celebrate the achievement, a ceremony was held at Condeco’s offices where CEO Paul Statham was presented with the award by Leslie Morgan, deputy lieutenant of the Greater London Lieutenancy, on behalf of the Queen.
Paul said: “It’s a great accolade and it’s a very proud moment, being rewarded by the queen. It’s always going to be something to be proud of.
“It’s the recognition of the hard efforts of the Condeco team, a team that has built up over the last 10 years.
“We have taken the technology to a new level and that is why the product has been so successful and it was seen by the judges as being truly innovative.
“It really does give everyone at Condeco a big pat on the back and that’s what it means to me - it’s recognition of the effort we have put in to make a difference.
“And it was great to have someone representing the queen come along. I can’t speak for everyone personally but from the people I have spoken to, they were very pleased with the ceremony.”
Condeco started life around 10 years ago with the aim of providing solutions to companies hoping to manage their office space more efficiently.
It provides both software and hardware products including room booking tools, desk booking tools and digital signs, as well as office room screens.
A decade later and the firm has gone from half a dozen clients to around 650 worldwide.
And the award has been the icing on the cake for Paul and his colleagues, and helped to cheer everyone up after what he described as the “disappointment” of Brexit.
“Brexit really did bring us down. It was something we were very disappointed about. We are a very global business and Europe is a big part of that.
“But this award really lifted people’s spirits.”
Condeco is now looking at further expansion and is about to open an office in Hong Kong.
