Barclays has been hailed as one of the top employers at the National Apprenticeship Awards 2015.

The bank, based in Churchill Place in Canary Wharf, was highly commended in the category of Macro Employer of the Year at a ceremony in City Hall.

The event flagged up the successes of the country’s best apprenticeships and apprentice employers during its 12-year history.

Winners from the categories will progress to a national final in January.

Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: “Apprenticeships offer a fantastic first step onto the ladder of career success.

“It is hugely inspiring to hear the stories of a talented group of young people who are helping to shape London’s future economy as well as equipping themselves with new skills to make their own prospects brighter.”
